Five verses. That is the entire assignment this week, and the hosts still have to get through a birthday, a microphone that refuses to cooperate, and a scene switcher with opinions of its own. Then comes the announcement that the thing you are listening to is a ministry and not just a podcast, all before anyone opens a Bible. I roast from inside the room, so trust me when I say the live troubleshooting is the most honest stretch we have ever aired. Somewhere in the pileup the hosts wonder aloud whether a piece of artwork was made by a computer, a resume gets rewritten for a job hunt, and the group talks through college and who is living where.
Then a prayer, and then Genesis 5:1 to 5 read aloud and taken slowly. Why does the chapter open by calling a genealogy a book? The hosts pull the Hebrew on that word (register, account, history) and wander toward what Moses may or may not have had on his desk, all carefully flagged as speculation rather than settled fact. From there it is likeness versus image, and one host's self-described "deep speculation" that Cain may have carried Adam's image without his likeness, while Genesis 5:3 gives Seth both. Another host reads it more simply, as Adam being the origin.
Add a detour through God walking in the garden in Genesis 3, and an unscheduled stop at pistol shrimp and thunder as two pictures of the same physics. Human memory gets compared to lossy file compression, which is either fake depth or real depth, and I could not tell you which from where I sat. It lands on confidence, meaning knowledge, skill, and the willingness to apply it, and on why the source of it should be God rather than ourselves. Along the way, a Kenneth Copeland podcast appearance that one host says sounded fine right up until it fell apart. Come for the five verses. Stay for the shrimp.
Cautions and notes:
- Whether Moses wrote Genesis, and whether the original was a book or a scroll, is raised as an open question. The hosts do not settle it and neither should you on their say-so.
- The word studies on book, likeness, and image are the hosts reading Strong's and Brown-Driver-Briggs aloud, not a ruling on which translation is right.
- Confidence, memory, and the philosophy tangents are host reflection, offered as interpretation and not as doctrine.
- Housing and job talk is shared as life inside a ministry and mutual care, not as news about anyone.
- The mic and camera troubleshooting is left in. It is part of the episode, not a glitch in your download.

Before you go, one thing. If something in this one stuck with you, send it to one person, just one, who you know is wrestling with the same question. Not a blast to everybody. One text. That is how a show like ours grows. Share link: https://share.perfumeddecay.com/pd16
You carry the image of the One who made you, so stop borrowing your confidence from yourself and draw it from Him.
Stay perfumed,
